* The current Plunker link is referring to an anonymous Plunker that nobody can't change.
* Changes the Plunker and StackBlitz links in the Readme to the `goo.gl` shorthand links from the issue template.
With (DefinitelyTyped #21004) the typings for @gulp-utils are declaring `chalk` as dependency of the types. This causes a conflict with the types from chalk and gulp fails everywhere in the CI. (https://github.com/DefinitelyTyped/DefinitelyTyped/issues/21004)
A possible solution would be locking the version of the gulp-util types to the working version `3.0.31`.
As `gulp-utils` is only used in one place right now, we are just remove the `gulp-utils` import and just use `console.log` as everywhere else.

Since the switch to the `mat-` prefix, the compatibility mode is no longer necessary. These changes remove anything that was left.
BREAKING CHANGE:
The `MATERIAL_COMPATIBILITY_MODE`, `CompatibilityModule`, `NoConflictStyleCompatibilityMode`, `MatPrefixRejector`, `MdPrefixRejector` symbols have been removed.
Refactors all of the usages of the deprecated `Http` by replacing them with the `HttpClient`.
BREAKING CHANGE: Material now requires `@angular/common` instead of `@angular/http` and uses `HttpClient` instead of `Http`.
Currently every UMD file for a secondary-entry point inlines other secondary-entry points. This means that the individual secondary entry points can't be used properly in SystemJS apps.
Other secondary entry-points that are part of the current build package **should** be only inlined for the primary entry-point UMD bundle.
Fixes#7947
* Most of the time the screenshot tests are failing because the caret is blinking and therefore the screenshot is different. Setting the caret-color to `transparent` for focused elements ensures that the screenshot tests are running more stable.
Adds the `gulp test:static` task that is identical to `gulp test`, however it doesn't launch Chrome automatically, which is convenient for debugging any browser that isn't Chrome. Currently the debugging flow for other browsers is running the Gulp task which launches Chrome, waiting for it to finish running the tests, connect the other browser, wait for the new browser to finish and then start debugging. With the new task you can just run the Gulp task and connect and disconnect only the relevant browsers.
* Currently the select sets the `multiple` and `disableRipple` values on its options manually. In order to avoid "changed after checked" errors we wrap the calls in promises, however this also forces us to have `async` tests which can time out if the browser is out of focus. These changes add a provider that allows for the options to take the value directly from the select.
* Refactors some unit tests that have been timing out in Firefox to run in the `fakeAsync` zone instead of the `async` one.
Adds a generic parameter to the `MatDialogConfig` that indicates the type of its `data`.
BREAKING CHANGE: Material now requires at least TypeScript 2.4.
Fixes#4398.

* Adds the `ancestorScrolled` method that allows for the consumer to subscribe to scroll events coming from the element's parent scrollables.
* The `scrolled` and `ancestorScrolled` streams now expose the scrollable that was scrolled.
BREAKING CHANGES:
* The `getScrollContainers` method has been renamed to `getAncestorScrollContainers` to better describe what it does.
* The `ScrollDispatcher.scrollableReferences` property has been renamed to `scrollContainers`.
* The `ScrollDispatcher.scrollableContainsElement` method has been removed.

Fixes#7549.
Currently the tint that is added on top of focused buttons won't show up if the button is focused programmatically, which means that the button won't appear focused in cases like the dialog closing and restoring focus to its trigger. This seems to have been introduced by 5d6920dde6.
